India has lifted the temporary suspension on civil aircraft operations at 32 airports, the Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed on Monday, hours after a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. In an official statement, the ministry announced that the airports—closed to civilian flights until 05:29 am on 15 May are now fully operational and available for immediate use. While the statement did not explicitly link the closures to the recent security situation, government sources suggested the restrictions were imposed as a precaution amid heightened military alert following cross-border tensions.
The reopening comes amid emerging reports after ceasefire understanding between Indian and Pakistani military authorities. A spokesperson for the civil aviation ministry said, “Travellers are advised to check their flight status directly with airlines and monitor official websites for regular updates.” The resumption of services is expected to normalise air traffic, which had faced delays, diversions and cancellations.
