The Punjab Police have made a major breakthrough in the Shambhu railway track blast investigation after arresting a man allegedly linked to multiple terror-related incidents in the state. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said Gurjinder Singh, also known as Baba Beant, was detained in a joint operation by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, Patiala Police and Counter Intelligence Pathankot.

Police described him as a key associate of Jagroop Singh, who they identified as the main executor in the Shambhu railway track blast case. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect was involved in the Shambhu blast, the Sirhind railway track explosion and a grenade attack on the CIA office in Moga, according to police.

Officials said the attacks were allegedly carried out under the direction of handlers based abroad.

Punjab Police added that, with the arrest and earlier recoveries, all three cases linked to incidents in Moga, Sirhind and Shambhu had now been solved.

Authorities said operations to dismantle militant networks and maintain security across Punjab would continue.
