Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, has described Operation Sindoor as more than a tactical strike—calling it a “symbol of India’s political, social and strategic willpower.” Speaking through video link during the inauguration of the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow on Sunday, Rajnath Singh said the military operation sent a clear message: India would respond firmly to terrorism, both within and beyond its borders. “Operation Sindoor was not just a military action,” he said, “but a demonstration of India’s resolve—our will to ensure justice for the innocent families who have lost loved ones to terrorist organisations operating on Indian soil.”
Rajnath Singh’s comments follow Indian government retaliatory strikes against cross-border terrorism, including the 2016 surgical strikes after the Uri attack, the 2019 Balakot air strikes post-Pulwama, and the latest coordinated action in response to the Pahalgam attack. “These strikes are proof that even land across the border is not safe for terrorists and their masters when India decides to act,” Rajnath Singh said, underscoring what he described as India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership with instilling a new assertiveness in India’s national security policy. “This is the New India,” Singh said, “one that will take effective action against terrorism on both sides of the border.”
