Punjabi singers, political leaders and city residents gathered at Model Town cremation ground on Tuesday to bid farewell to Divit Auluck, son of Speed Records owner Dinesh Auluck and nephew of singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, who died in a road accident on Saturday night.

Several prominent Punjabi singers, including Honey Singh, Amrit Maan, Satinder Sartaaj, Sarbjit Cheema, Boota Mohammed, G Khan, Ranjit Bawa, Gippy Grewal and Sumit, attended the last rites. Some singers also shouldered the bier as they accompanied the mortal remains to the cremation ground.

Mayor Vineet Dheer, Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and several other political and social figures were also present to pay their respects. Divit’s father, Dinesh Auluck, lit the funeral pyre.

The mortal remains were brought to the family’s residence before being taken to the Model Town cremation ground, where a large number of residents and social workers gathered to pay their final respects.

Divit died after the car in which he was travelling with friends to attend a birthday party collided with a Municipal Corporation trolley on Saturday night. The impact left the vehicle badly damaged.

He was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
