APP MLA Surjit Singh Rakhra said he had never spoken against Jouramajra in the past and would maintain the same stand despite Jouramajra making several remarks about him. He added that he continued to respect Jouramajra, who is also his relative.
Responding to allegations made during Jouramajra’s press conference on Sunday regarding alleged illegal construction at the Rakhra Cinema building, Surjit Singh Rakhra said he had purchased the property through an auction. He challenged those making the allegations, saying he would quit politics if even one per cent of the property was found to be illegal.
Asked whether Jouramajra’s departure would affect AAP’s cadre in Samana, Rakhra said he had remained connected with the constituency for the past 30 years and was well known among its residents.
He further claimed that he had never acquired even a one-yard plot during his political career and was prepared to be held accountable if proven otherwise.
