A woman allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday morning following a dispute involving her boyfriend, who had accused her brothers and their associates of allegedly firing at his Thar outside her house on Monday night.
The incident took a new turn after the woman’s brother, Rohan Dheer, blamed the youth for allegedly harassing his sister and claimed that she took the extreme step following the humiliation caused by the dispute.
The youth, identified as Divyanshu Bagga, had alleged that his girlfriend invited him to her house on Monday, his birthday, on the pretext of cutting a cake. According to his account, when he reached outside her house, her brothers and their friends surrounded his Thar, abused him, and allegedly opened fire at his vehicle.
Bagga claimed that he managed to escape and subsequently approached the police with a complaint. He said the relationship between the two families had ended a few days earlier after the engagement was called off.
Meanwhile, Rohan Dheer alleged that Bagga had been harassing his sister for several days and had also come outside their house on Monday night, leading to a confrontation.
He claimed his sister died by suicide because of the humiliation following the dispute and held Bagga responsible for her death.
