Panchkula Police seize country-made pistols, accused sent to seven days police remand

The Panchkula Police have arrested a man from Bihar allegedly involved in the supply of illegal firearms and recovered four country made pistols from his possession, the police officials said . The accused has been remanded in police custody for seven days as investigators work to trace the main supplier and uncover a wider arms trafficking network.

The arrest was made as part of the district police’s ongoing campaign against illegal arms trafficking. Officials said the Crime Branch in Sector 26 acted on specific intelligence about the suspect’s presence near the Commando Complex in Pinjore. According to the police, the accused, identified as Raj Kishore alias Raj, a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar who is currently living in the Pinjore area, was allegedly waiting to supply illegal firearms.

Acting on the tip-off, the Crime Branch-26 team reached the location, surrounded the suspect and apprehended him. During the search, police recovered four illegal country made pistols from the accused’s bag. A case has been registered under the Arms Act at Chandimandir Police Station.

Police said the accused was produced before a court, which granted a seven-day police remand to facilitate further investigation into the illegal arms supply network.  Vijay Kumar,  in-charge of the Crime Branch-26 said the remand would help investigators identify the main supplier and other individuals linked to the trafficking network. He added that Panchkula Police would continue taking strict action against those involved in illegal arms trafficking and activities promoting crime in the district.
