Panchkula women cops save unconscious woman with CPR

Two women police personnel saved the life of an unconscious woman by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and rushing her to Civil Hospital in Sector 6 within five minutes after spotting her near Majri Chowk on Tuesday. The woman has regained consciousness and her condition is now stable.

According to DCP Panchkula Aditya Singh, Sub-Inspector Ashu Dahiya, in charge of the Legal Cell at the Deputy Commissioner of Police office, and Woman Head Constable Asha, posted in the Army Clerk Branch, were returning home in their private car after duty at around 5.30 pm when they spotted the woman lying unconscious near the DI cut at Sector 1/2, close to Majri Chowk.

A scooter was lying nearby, while another woman accompanying the victim was present at the spot. Suspecting a medical emergency, the two police personnel immediately administered CPR and shifted the woman to Civil Hospital in Sector 6 in their private vehicle.

The DCP said the woman regained consciousness after reaching the hospital. She is currently stable and undergoing treatment under medical supervision. The police also called her family members to the hospital. The victim’s mother thanked the two personnel for providing timely assistance.

Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain praised the women personnel for their prompt response and said the responsibility of the police extended beyond maintaining law and order to helping citizens during emergencies.

He said Panchkula Police regularly organised first-aid and CPR training sessions to equip personnel to respond to road accidents, sudden medical emergencies and other critical situations.

Nain said the initiative taken by Dahiya and Asha, despite having completed their duty hours, reflected their alertness, sensitivity and commitment to public service. He appreciated their efforts and described their response as an example for the police department.
