Panchkula, July 9
Panchkula Police have arrested two men for allegedly helping secure bail for an accused in a narcotics case by submitting forged identity and land documents before a court. Police said the accused misused the identity and land records of an innocent person to prepare fake documents, while efforts are continuing to arrest other members of the alleged racket.
The case was registered at Sector 7 Police Station following a complaint received at the Sector 1 police post under Sections 406, 420, 465, 466, 468, 471 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
According to Station House Officer Inspector Rajbir, the complaint stated that bail had been furnished for an accused identified as Babli in an NDPS Act case, with the name of Mohan Singh listed as the surety. When the court later summoned the surety, the real Mohan Singh appeared and stated that he had never stood surety for any accused.
He further stated that the affidavit, photograph and other documents submitted in his name were entirely forged and that only the land ownership records relating to his property had been misused.
During the investigation, police obtained certified copies of the bail records from the court and launched searches in several locations. Mohan Singh’s statement was formally recorded, during which he informed investigators that a fake Aadhaar card had been prepared using details from his land records.
Police also circulated the suspect’s photograph across various courts to establish the accused’s identity. The individual was later identified as Balkrishna, a resident of Ambala.
Acting on sustained investigation, a police team led by Sector 1 Police Post In-charge Sub Inspector Rammehar Singh and Investigating Officer ASI Rajeev Kumar arrested Balkrishna and Arvind Kumar, both residents of Ambala, on 7 July 2026.
During questioning, the accused reportedly disclosed that the forged documents used to obtain bail had been prepared by another individual.
Police said the investigation has revealed that several people were involved in the conspiracy to mislead the court by using fabricated documents to obtain bail for the NDPS accused.
Balkrishna has been remanded to one day’s police custody for further interrogation, while Arvind Kumar has been sent to judicial custody. Police said raids are continuing to apprehend the remaining accused and that all those found involved in the network will face strict legal action.
