Karni Sena chief Mahipal Makrana leads march; memorandum submitted to governor

Panchkula, August 25

A protest was held in Panchkula under the banner of Swarna Samaj Ekta, with demonstrators demanding the rollback of a University Grants Commission (UGC) decision.

The protest was led by Karni Sena All India president Mahipal Makrana, who addressed the gathering and said the movement would continue over the issue. A large number of community members participated in the demonstration and raised slogans in support of their demands.

Heavy police deployment was made in Panchkula in view of the protest. The march had started from Panipat and reached Panchkula after passing through different areas.

The protesters said there was widespread resentment in the community over the UGC-related decision and urged the government to consider their demands seriously. According to the protesters, the march had started from Panipat around eight days earlier and travelled through several areas before reaching Panchkula.

During the demonstration, protesters raised slogans and called on the government to take prompt action. Makrana said the agitation would be continued and announced that after Haryana, similar demonstrations would be organised in Madhya Pradesh over the issue.

Following the protest, protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the governor. The memorandum highlighted the demand to roll back the UGC decision, along with other demands raised by the protesters.

The protesters appealed to the government to take a positive decision at the earliest. They said the issue had caused concern among community members and sought government intervention.

The demonstration remained focused on the demand for the UGC rollback, with participants calling for the government to address their concerns.
