Free travel from sunrise to sunset; HRTC deploys staff and flying squads to ensure smooth operations
Dharamshala, August 26
Women in Himachal Pradesh can travel free of cost on Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) ordinary buses on August 28 for Raksha Bandhan.
HRTC Dharamshala DM Pankaj Chadda said at a press conference on Wednesday that the free travel facility would be available from sunrise to sunset on all ordinary HRTC buses operating within the state.
He said necessary directions had been issued to all depots under the Dharamshala division to ensure smooth bus operations and safe travel for women. Unit officers and Regional Managers have been designated as nodal officers for the arrangements.
Chadda said RMs, inspection staff and flying squads would remain deployed in the field on Raksha Bandhan. Drivers and conductors have also been instructed to ensure that eligible women receive the free travel facility.
He said bus stand landline numbers and mobile numbers of bus stand in-charges have been issued for passengers seeking information about routes and timings.
In case of overcrowding, passengers will be informed about the next available bus. Chadda said the corporation would make all efforts to ensure safe and convenient travel despite the expected rush.
He added that he would personally remain in the field with the flying squad on August 28 to monitor the arrangements.
