Punjab Police nabbed Jobanpreet in joint operation with Mumbai ATS; 3 pistols, 5 magazines and 11 cartridges seized
Chandigarh: The Punjab Police have arrested a key accused in the Mad Sandhu murder case from Mumbai and seized three pistols, five magazines and 11 cartridges, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Jobanpreet, was arrested by the Counter Intelligence wing, Jalandhar, in coordination with the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Preliminary investigations suggest that Jobanpreet supplied weapons, financed operations and provided logistical support to the shooters on the directions of foreign-based handlers, the DGP said.
The police said the accused had confessed to his involvement in three firing incidents linked to extortion in Tarn Taran district.
Further investigations are underway to identify other members of the network and establish its links, including those with the alleged foreign-based handlers.
