Accused allegedly in contact with gangster Kulveer Singh Sidhu

Chandigarh, September 18

The Mohali police have arrested four alleged associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for allegedly firing at houses and demanding ransom, recovering five illegal pistols, 12 live cartridges and a Fortuner car bearing a temporary registration number. According to police, the accused were in contact with gangster Kulveer Singh Sidhu, who was allegedly operating from abroad. The police said that on the night of September 4-5, two motorcycle-borne men fired automatic weapons at the house of Sanyam Judeja in Phase 10. Before the firing, Kulveer Singh Sidhu had allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore from Judeja.

On September 7, the firing was also reported at the Phase 10 house of Judeja’s partner Baljit Singh. Police said a ransom demand of Rs 5 crore was also made from him.

Another firing incident took place at the house of Jagdeep Singh Mann in Sector 104 on September 14. During the incident, Sachin, who was working at the house, was injured. The Police said a demand for Rs 5 crore also emerged in this case. The arrested accused have been identified as Akashdeep Singh, 23, Praveen Kumar alias Kalu, 23, Jasmandeep Singh, 20, and Dushant Sharma alias Sammi, 27.

According to the police, Jasmandeep Singh carried out reconnaissance, while Dushant Sharma handled the weapons. Akashdeep Singh, Praveen Kumar and their associate Simardeep Singh alias Jashan allegedly carried out the firing. Simardeep Singh is yet to be arrested.

The police said the accused were being questioned to gather information about other incidents and illegal weapons. The investigation is continuing, police said.
