Panchkula, July 7
The Panchkula Police have arrested three accused in the double murder case involving a brother-in-law and his brother-in-law in Sector 19, where two men were killed following an alleged personal rivalry. The accused have been sent to two days of police remand as investigators continue efforts to arrest the remaining suspects and recover the weapons and vehicles used in the crime.
According to Inspector Sombir Dhaka, Station House Officer of Sector 20 Police Station, police received information on July 4 that Sanjeet, a resident of Sector 19, had died after being attacked with sharp-edged weapons. A police team rushed to the Sector 6 Civil Hospital and, during the investigation, traced the crime scene to an open area near the CID underpass.
During the search, police also recovered the body of Arjun alias Cheeta, a resident of Kharak Mangoli, who had sustained multiple fatal injuries caused by sharp-edged weapons. The Scene of Crime team examined the spot and collected important forensic evidence. During the investigation, Arjun’s sister told police that her brother had been in a long-term relationship with Sanjeet’s sister and that the couple had married at a temple. She alleged that after the couple separated, tensions and disputes between Arjun and Sanjeet continued. According to her statement, Arjun was allegedly called to a naming ceremony where Sanjeet and his associates attacked him with sharp weapons. During the violent clash, Sanjeet also lost his life. Separate cases have been registered at Sector 20 Police Station.
Investigating officer PSI Kamaldeep Singh, in charge of Sector 19 Police Post, along with his team, arrested Vipin, Prem Chand, and Sukhpreet Singh alias Lucky, all residents of Abhaypur. The three accused were produced before a court and remanded to police custody for two days. Police said the remand will be used to recover the scooter and motorcycle allegedly used in the crime, collect further evidence, and trace the absconding accused.
DCP Panchkula, Srishti Gupta, said the investigation is progressing in all aspects and assured that strict legal action will be taken against everyone found to be involved in the case.
