Panchkula, May 21
A fire broke out in two rooms near the main entrance of Shiv Mandir in Sector-9, Panchkula, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit, officials said on Wednesday.
Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident and launched firefighting operations. Although the fire was initially brought under control, flames reignited after some time, prompting renewed efforts by firefighters.
After continuous operations, the fire brigade successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing any major damage or loss of life. Authorities said timely action by emergency teams helped avert a bigger mishap in the crowded temple premises.
As a precautionary measure, the electricity supply to the temple complex has been temporarily disconnected to prevent any further untoward incidents. Police personnel remain deployed at the site, and officials confirmed that the situation is fully under control.
