Police inspect site; cause of accident under investigation
Pinjore, September 3
A 45-year-old worker died after his neck got trapped in a makeshift lift at a book depot located in Lohgarh Aanchal Vihar on the Pinjore-Nalagarh road.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay, a resident of Vasudevpura Gokul Colony, here.
According to employees at the depot, after Sanjay’s neck got trapped in the lift, the shop owner immediately took him to a private hospital, where doctors, considering his critical condition, referred him to the Sector 6 Civil Hospital in Panchkula. However, doctors there declared him dead on arrival.
On being informed, the local police reached the spot. Investigation Officer Captain inspected the site and gathered information about the circumstances leading to the accident.
The police are examining all aspects of the case, including the functioning and safety of the lift, to determine the exact cause of the incident. Officials said the exact cause would be ascertained after the completion of the investigation and further action would be taken.
Meanwhile, the incident has also raised concerns over the use of makeshift lifts at commercial establishments.
