Dharamshala, May 12

Sudhir Sharma on Tuesday released the BJP’s 32-point manifesto for the upcoming Dharamshala Municipal Corporation elections and expressed confidence that the party would secure the posts of mayor and deputy mayor.

Addressing a press conference in Dharamshala, Sharma said the BJP remained committed to the city’s overall development. Pawan Kajal was also present during the event. Sharma further claimed that the BJP would also form the next government in Himachal Pradesh after the upcoming Assembly elections.

He said that if elected, BJP councillors would prioritise implementing the commitments outlined in the manifesto from the very first day. The party promised development projects including smart parking facilities at 22 locations, round-the-clock drinking water supply, a funicular transport project from Charan to Bhagsu, redevelopment of Kacheri Adda and Kotwali Bazaar, underground cabling, introduction of e-taxis, and a decongestion plan to ease traffic in the city.

The manifesto also included proposals for women’s self-employment schemes, a “Doctor on Call” mobile application for senior citizens, an art centre for local artists, a football academy at Khaniyara, multi-sports zones, cycling and jogging tracks, development of playgrounds and initiatives aimed at making Dharamshala drug-free.

Apart from this, the BJP promised shelters for stray animals, channelisation of drains to prevent damage during heavy rains, designated vending zones, beautification of religious places and decentralised sewerage systems in uncovered areas.

During the press conference, Sharma also targeted the Indian National Congress, alleging that the party’s condition had weakened significantly and that people were supporting the BJP on development-related issues.
