Illustrated stories on savings and investments reach students across 60 schools

Mumbai: Nearly 21,000 students across 60 schools were set to receive financial education through illustrated comics under an initiative launched by CDSL Investor Protection Fund (IPF), in collaboration with Yuva Unstoppable and Amar Chitra Katha, to explain savings, investments and responsible financial habits through storytelling.

The programme used comics to make financial concepts accessible to young learners. The current outreach covered five languages, English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and Urdu, while the wider series was available in 12 languages.

The comics primarily targeted students in senior classes, with additional editions for younger learners under development. The series includes titles such as The Unofficial Ustaad, The Golden Peacock Fraud and The Garden of Prosperity. Students could access the material in print and digital formats. The Garden of Prosperity has also been adapted into an animated investor education film.

Sudhish Pillai, head of the CDSL IPF Secretariat, said the initiative aimed to encourage children to develop responsible financial habits from an early age.

Amitabh Shah, founder and chief inspiration officer of Yuva Unstoppable, highlighted the role of schools in developing skills that students can use throughout their lives. Gayathri Chandrasekaran, editor-in-chief of Tinkle Comics, also emphasised the use of storytelling to explain basic saving and investment concepts to children.

The initiative formed part of CDSL IPF’s wider investor education efforts. During the financial year 2025-26, it conducted more than 3,600 investor awareness programmes across 35 states and Union Territories, reaching over two lakh participants.
