Punjab publishes draft electoral roll 2026 under SIR; claims and objections open till Sept 12

The Draft Electoral Roll 2026 for all 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab was published on Thursday under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, marking the beginning of the claims and objections phase, Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra said.

The claims and objections period will remain open from August 13 to September 12, while the notice and disposal phase will continue from August 13 to October 8, according to the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India.

As part of the revision process, Mitra held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties and handed over copies of the Draft Electoral Roll to them. The representatives were also briefed about the forms prescribed for different electoral services.

Form 6 can be used for inclusion of names in the electoral roll, Form 6A for enrolment of NRI voters, Form 7 for deletion of names and Form 8 for correction of entries or shifting of residence.

Mitra said young citizens with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date would be eligible for enrolment. Political party representatives were also informed about the facilities available through the Citizen Service Portal, including the “Book a Call Request with BLO” facility.

To help voters verify their details, a one-day special camp will be organized at all polling booths across Punjab on August 16. Booth Level Officers will be available at polling stations from 10 am to 1 pm to assist voters in checking their details in the Draft Electoral Roll and accessing electoral services.

The CEO also said help desks would be set up at the offices of District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers across the state. These desks will help voters locate their names in the published Draft Electoral Roll.

Voters can check their details in the Draft Electoral Roll through the CEO Punjab website and the Election Commission’s citizen portal.

Citizens whose names are missing from the Draft Electoral Roll can submit claims for inclusion, along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents, between August 13 and September 12.
