The state government has come under fire for convening a cabinet meeting during the Model Code of Conduct. The state BJP submitted a memorandum to Governor Kavinder Gupta, raising objections over the move. Responding to the issue, Governor Gupta said that political parties often raise such complaints and confirmed that a letter had been sent to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu regarding the matter. He added that appropriate action would be taken if any violation was found.

The Governor made these remarks during an informal interaction with journalists in Dharamshala on Wednesday. He had arrived in the city to watch the first qualifier match of the IPL held there on Tuesday.

Speaking on the growing concern of drug abuse, the Governor stressed the need for a mission-based campaign to protect the youth from addiction. He said that drugs were destroying the younger generation and called for joint efforts by government agencies, social organizations, and families to tackle the issue effectively.

Commenting on the IPL event in Dharamshala, Governor Gupta said the city was hosting an excellent cricketing event and that he wanted to connect with the public during the occasion. He also noted that the Dharamshala stadium serves as an important platform for promoting tourism and said further measures should be taken in the future to strengthen tourism in the region.
