Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s political approach is aimed at ensuring dignity and development for every citizen rather than seeking votes, while expressing confidence that the party will form the next government in Punjab after the upcoming elections.

Addressing a delegation of the Rai Sikh community at his official residence, Saini said the Center’s governance model is based on empowerment and not appeasement. “The government does not create vote banks but development banks,” he said, adding that the focus remains on inclusive growth. Projecting confidence about Punjab, Saini said the BJP will form the government in the state after next year’s polls. He urged people to be prepared for change and to contribute towards building a prosperous Punjab.

Drawing a comparison between the two states, the chief minister said that while the Punjab government has made promises, the Haryana government has implemented “reservation within reservation” to ensure appropriate representation of Rai Sikh youth in government jobs and administration in proportion to their population.

He said that despite a sizeable presence of the Rai Sikh community in Punjab, policy measures there remain limited to announcements. Highlighting the role of the community, Saini said its members have upheld the teachings of the Gurus and contributed significantly to nation-building through agriculture, education, service, and trade.

Saini said the Haryana government addressed long-standing concerns of the community by including them in the ‘Deprived Scheduled Castes’ category. “This is not just a change on paper but a commitment to bring them into the mainstream. The government is determined that no community or section is left behind in the race of development,” he said.

He also assured that the government remains committed to preserving the cultural heritage of the Rai Sikh community and upholding the core ideals of Sikhism. The remarks come amid continued political positioning ahead of the Punjab elections, with a focus on outreach to communities and welfare measures.
