Trust marks 20 years of service with welfare, youth and education initiatives

Former Haryana Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta said the Ashwani Gupta Memorial Trust, in Chandigarh and Panchkula, has completed 20 years of work in social service, youth development, education, and public welfare. Addressing a press conference, Gupta said the trust has organized badminton championships for the past two decades, with more than 7,000 players participating so far.

He said the trust has also organized kabaddi tournaments in rural areas to encourage young people to stay away from drug abuse. The trust has also conducted health check-up camps and computer training programs, particularly to give girls in rural areas access to computer education. The trust has also organized inter-school painting and slogan competitions and conducted cyclothons to spread awareness against drug abuse, Gupta said.

To mark the completion of 20 years, the trust will organize a special program on September 20 at 3 pm. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, senior RSS functionary Prem Chand Goyal, Mayor Shyam Lal Bansal and Dr Amrita Didi are expected to attend. Gupta said certificates would be presented to 30 people who have completed the first batch of a three-month training course. A documentary highlighting the trust’s activities and initiatives over the past 20 years will also be screened during the program.

The trust will also confer ‘Prerna Punj Awards’ on five individuals whose work has inspired others and contributed to society and the country.Among those to be honored are former Army chief V P Malik, Ramakant Bhardwaj, who has given up his previous way of life and is living in a container, and Akansh Dhull, who secured third rank in the UPSC examination.

Gupta said the Punjab Governor would felicitate five individuals during the program.

He said the trust has worked in social service for the past two decades and will remain committed to initiatives aimed at public welfare and community development.
