Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan paid tribute to revolutionary freedom fighter Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on his 119th birth anniversary on Monday. Sandhwan said Bhagat Singh’s sacrifice in the struggle against British rule remained an important part of India’s freedom movement. Sharing details, he said Bhagat Singh’s vision, sacrifice and commitment to the freedom struggle continued to inspire generations, particularly young people.
The Speaker said a true tribute to Bhagat Singh lay in following his ideals of social justice, equality and selfless service. “Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh did not merely fight for independence from foreign rule. He envisioned an egalitarian society free from exploitation and oppression,” Sandhwan said.
He added that Bhagat Singh’s courage in facing the gallows had inspired the freedom movement and urged people to follow the path shown by the revolutionary.
