Chandigarh, August 11
Punjab Police have busted a cross-border narcotics smuggling module in Ferozepur and arrested three people, recovering 30.672 kg of heroin, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Ferozepur Range. Preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment was sent across the International Border by a foreign-based drug smuggler and received by an Indian smuggler near Ali Ke village in Ferozepur for further transportation and distribution.An FIR has been registered at the ANTF police station in SAS Nagar.
Police are now investigating the network’s backward and forward linkages to identify other people involved in the cross-border operation and establish the identities of its foreign-based handlers.Yadav said Punjab Police remained committed to dismantling cross-border narcotics networks, disrupting drug supply chains and making the state drug-free.
