Former Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to attend the grand finale

Panchkula: The Namo Cricket League will conclude at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium here on Sunday in the presence of former Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, with organisers also expected to outline plans for taking the tournament to a national platform.

Organised by Tarun Bhandari, the league aimed to promote cricket among young people while carrying the message of “say no to drugs, say yes to sports”. Players from rural areas and smaller towns have participated in the tournament, according to the organisers.

The proposed national expansion is expected to be a key focus of the finale. The organisers are exploring the possibility of taking the league beyond Haryana and Punjab and bringing teams from different states onto a common platform.

The league’s expansion has been linked by the organisers to the broader emphasis on encouraging young people to stay away from drugs and participate in sports. However, details of any national edition, including its format, venues and schedule, have not yet been announced.

The organisers said the tournament’s initial stages drew participation from a large number of teams, including those from rural and smaller urban areas. They said the experience has encouraged them to consider a wider version of the league.

Sunday’s programme will include the final match and a live performance by singer B Praak. The event is expected to mark the conclusion of the Panchkula edition while providing a platform for the organisers to discuss the league’s future.

The Namo Cricket League has been promoted as a sporting initiative aimed at connecting young people with cricket and encouraging participation in organised sports. Further details about its proposed national version are expected to emerge during the finale.
