2 snatchers arrested within 24 hours in Panchkula, stolen bike and mobile recovered

Panchkula Police arrested two alleged mobile snatchers within 24 hours of a snatching incident reported in Sector 7 and recovered the stolen mobile phone along with a stolen motorcycle used in the crime. Both accused were later sent to judicial custody, officials said.

According to police, the incident occurred on May 24, when a Manimajra resident was heading to work near the Government School in Sector 7. Two youths riding a black Splendor motorcycle allegedly snatched his mobile phone and fled from the spot.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 7 Police Station. Acting swiftly, a police team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar and investigating officer Amandeep Singh launched an operation and arrested the accused near Suraj Cinema in Sector 1 based on secret information.

The accused were identified as Karan Khan, originally from Chandigarh and currently residing in Khadak Mangoli, and Suraj, a native of Panipat presently living in Old Panchkula. Police recovered the stolen mobile phone from Karan Khan’s possession, while the motorcycle used in the crime was recovered from the parking area near Suraj Cinema. Investigators later found that the bike had also been stolen.

DCP Panchkula, Srishti Gupta, said both accused had prior criminal records. Suraj is facing multiple cases related to theft, snatching, NDPS violations, and assault, while Karan Khan already has three theft cases registered against him at Sector 7 Police Station. Police said strict action against criminal activities in the city will continue.
