Panchkula, May 14
Panchkula Police has launched a new initiative to promote fuel conservation and environmental protection following appeals made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Haryana government.
Under the initiative, police officials and employees have been directed to use bicycles as much as possible when commuting to duty to reduce fuel consumption and control pollution. The department has also encouraged officers and staff to adopt carpooling for official work and daily travel.
To support the move, a special bus service has been introduced for police personnel between the Police Line and various police offices and stations in Panchkula. The bus will operate daily on a fixed schedule connecting the Police Commissioner’s office, Police Colony in Sector 5, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office.
Department officials said employees have been advised to make maximum use of the bus service and avoid unnecessary use of private vehicles. The branch in charge has also been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the directions and to motivate employees to actively participate in the fuel-saving and environmental awareness campaign.
