The eighth edition of Exercise Garuda, a bilateral air exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force (FASF), has concluded at Air Base 118 in Mont-de-Marsan, France. The IAF contingent returned to India on December 2 following the completion of the drills held through late November. The IAF deployed Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, supported by IL-78 mid-air refuelling tankers and C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft. Both air forces carried out complex air operations designed to simulate realistic combat scenarios, including joint mission planning, coordinated strike and escort missions, and familiarisation with each other’s operating procedures.

IAF officials said the exercise contributed significantly to improving interoperability between the two forces. High aircraft serviceability maintained by the IAF’s technical crew ensured that all planned missions were executed smoothly. Senior officers from both countries attended the closing ceremony, praising the professionalism and discipline displayed throughout the engagement.

Exercise Garuda 2025 was one of the IAF’s largest international training activities of the year. The air force said the exercise reinforced India–France strategic ties and offered valuable operational lessons that would strengthen its combat readiness and cooperation with partner air forces.
