The NDA is heading for a sweeping victory in Bihar, with projections suggesting the alliance will win more than 200 of the state’s 243 assembly seats. The opposition Mahagathbandhan is expected to fall to around 34 seats, according to early estimates. Reacting to the results, Home Minister Amit Shah said the mandate reflected the faith of ordinary Biharis in the vision of a “Developed Bihar”. He added that parties associated with “jungle raj and appeasement politics” would no longer be given the chance to “loot”, saying voters were now responding only to a “politics of performance”.
Shah congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and NDA workers across the state, praising BJP cadres “from the booth level to the state level” for their efforts. Writing on X, he assured voters — “especially our mothers and sisters” — that the alliance would govern with “even greater dedication” under Mr Modi’s leadership.
He said every vote cast was an endorsement of the Modi government’s stance against “infiltrators” and their “sympathisers”, accusing the opposition of protecting them for vote-bank politics. The results, he claimed, showed public support for voter-list purification and marked a setback for the Congress, which he said had “reached the last rung” in Bihar under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
Shah also described the mandate as an endorsement of the NDA’s work on development, women’s safety, good governance and welfare measures. He credited Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years and Kumar’s role in “taking Bihar out of the darkness of jungle raj”, calling the verdict a reaffirmation of the resolve for a “Developed Bihar”.
