In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Shimla Police have arrested the alleged kingpin of a heroin supply network operating in the region. The accused, identified as 21 year old Ravi Ahirwar, was apprehended from Faridabad following an extensive investigation into a drug trafficking case registered at Baluganj Police Station.

Police said Ahirwar, a native of Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh who was residing in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, had been supplying heroin, commonly known as chitta, to Himachal Pradesh since 2025. Investigators revealed that he concealed the contraband inside empty milk and snack packets and placed them at designated locations around ISBT Tutikandi and nearby areas in Shimla.

According to police, the accused would record videos of the drop locations and send them to the alleged network operator, Vishal Yadav. Once payments were confirmed, the locations were shared with buyers. Officials said Ahirwar worked on commission and had visited Shimla nearly 50 times during the past year.

The case originated on April 24 after police recovered seven grams of heroin from an accused identified as Avinash Chauhan. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Vishal Yadav and his brother Jai Prakash Yadav. Digital evidence, banking records and video footage later helped investigators establish Ahirwar’s role in the network.

Police investigations have revealed transactions worth approximately ₹1.25 crore through the supply chain in just three months, highlighting the scale of the operation.

Shimla Police said their anti narcotics campaign has intensified significantly in 2026. While one kilogram of heroin was seized in 2025, authorities have already recovered two kilograms this year. Officials said 48 people have been arrested through backward-linkage investigations in 2026, compared with 7 last year.

Police further stated that 37 drug supply networks have been dismantled so far this year and efforts are continuing to break interstate narcotics networks operating in and around Himachal Pradesh.
