RBI Appoints Sonali Sen Gupta as Executive Director

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Sonali Sen Gupta as Executive Director (ED) from October 9. Before her elevation to the post of Executive Director Sonali Sen Gupta served as Regional Director for Karnataka at the RBI’s Bangalore Regional Office. With over three decades of experience at the Reserve Bank, she has worked across diverse areas including Financial Inclusion, Human Resource Management, Banking Regulation, and Supervision.

Sonali Sen Gupta has represented the RBI in international forums such as the G20 – Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) and the OECD – International Network on Financial Education (INFE). She has also served as a Director on the Board of the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE) and been a member of several internal and external committees.

Currently, she serves as the RBI’s Nominee Director on the Board of Indian Overseas Bank. As Executive Director, Sonali Sen Gupta will oversee the Consumer Education and Protection Department, the Financial Inclusion and Development Department, and the Inspection Department.
