Dharamshala’s popular Triund Trek will get 50 to 60 new signboards from Galu to the Bhagsu exit point to promote wildlife conservation, cleanliness, and responsible trekking, the Forest Department has announced.
The initiative aims to make the trekking circuit safer and more environment-friendly amid the growing number of visitors. The signboards will carry messages on wildlife protection, proper waste disposal, forest conservation and maintaining silence along the trail.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Dharamshala Amit Sharma said the boards had been designed with different messages to educate visitors about their responsibilities while trekking.
He said some visitors carry speakers and play loud music along the trail, disturbing other trekkers who visit the area to enjoy its natural surroundings.
Sharma warned that creating noise on the trek could attract a fine of Rs 5,000. Speakers used in violation of the rules could also be confiscated.
The department aims to maintain cleanliness and protect the natural environment of the Triund trekking circuit while ensuring that visitors follow rules and respect local wildlife.
