Patiala, June 10

Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, late Tuesday night, visited the ongoing protest site of apprentice linemen at Bhedpura village, where several protesters have climbed a high-voltage tower demanding action on their employment-related concerns.

During his visit, Warring appealed to the youths perched atop the tower to come down and avoid risking their lives. However, the protesters declined his request and continued their demonstration.

Addressing the media, Warring criticized the Punjab government, alleging that no representative from the state administration had reached out to the protesting youths to engage in dialogue. He also claimed that the Patiala administration had attempted to disperse the protest outside the PSPCL office by imposing Section 163, which subsequently led the protesters to intensify their agitation.

“The government has failed to engage with these young people despite their repeated appeals. Instead of addressing their concerns, efforts were made to remove the protest site,” Warring said.

He further stated that the Congress Party stands firmly with the apprentice linemen and announced that party workers would begin participating in the protest from Wednesday onwards.

Warring also said that the Congress plans to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court by filing a petition on behalf of the protesting youths, seeking relief on their demands.

The protest by apprentice linemen has continued to draw attention, with demonstrators maintaining their stance and demanding a resolution to their long-pending employment issues.
