New Delhi, April 20
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district and prayed for the recovery of those injured.
At least 15 people were killed, and around 20 others were injured when a passenger bus rolled down a hill near Kagort village in the Ram Nagar area at around 10 am, officials said. The accident occurred while the bus was negotiating a blind curve on a hilly road.
In a message posted on X, the President conveyed her condolences to the bereaved families. “I am deeply saddened to learn about the deaths of several people in the bus accident that occurred in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. I express my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” she said.
Officials said rescue and relief operations were launched soon after the incident, and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are continuing their efforts at the site while awaiting further details on the cause of the accident.
