Four killed, one injured as car plunges into gorge in Himachal

The accident happened at about 02:56 local time on Tuesday. The police said a preliminary inspection suggested the vehicle was travelling at high speed when the driver lost control while negotiating a turn.The vehicle hit a parapet and crash barrier before plunging off the road and landing at the bottom of the slope, where it was found badly damaged, police said.

One person was found injured outside the vehicle. Two bodies were recovered from inside the car, while two more were found later during a search operation.The injured man was identified as 27-year-old Suresh Kumar a resident of Jabo village in Ani tehsil. He was given initial treatment at the Community Health Centre in Ani before being referred to Rampur Hospital.

The four people who died were identified as 25-year-old Rahul Rana, 40-year-old Bal Krishna, 21-year-old Vivek, also known as Vicky, and Gunjan. All were residents of Jabo village in Ani tehsil of Kullu district. The Police said Bal Krishna was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.The bodies have been taken to the Community Health Centre in Ani for post-mortem examinations.

The Police have registered a case at Ani police station under Sections 125(A), 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

An investigation is under way to establish the exact cause of the accident.
