A political show of strength was witnessed in Palampur as the Chief Minister addressed a public rally ahead of the municipal elections, scheduled for May 17, for 15 wards.Senior Congress leader Rajani Patil, along with several ministers and MLAs, also attended the gathering as the party intensified its campaign in the run-up to the polls.
Addressing the rally, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that all Congress candidates would win the upcoming municipal elections.
He asserted that there is no shortage of funds in the state and alleged that the previous BJP government had left Himachal Pradesh burdened with heavy debt. The Chief Minister further claimed that during its tenure, the BJP opened several schools and colleges as part of election promises, but many of these institutions lacked adequate teaching staff.
He also accused the BJP of misusing public money through indirect means, stating that such alleged “backdoor” channels of diversion have now been shut by the present government.
The Chief Minister added that the coming period would be highly challenging and urged party workers to strengthen their preparations for the upcoming elections.
