Shimla, October 13
Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Monday unveiled a statue of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Daulat Singh Park on the historic Ridge in Shimla, in an emotional ceremony attended by family members, party leaders and supporters. “This is an extremely emotional and proud moment to remember my father, Raja Virbhadra Singh Ji, and his indelible contribution to Himachal,” said PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, while addressing the gathering.
He described his father as “the heartbeat of Himachal,” adding, “His soul lives in its mountains and his love is etched in its soil. This statue is not just a memorial, it is a message — that those who devote their lives to the people remain immortal.” Vikramaditya said the statue would serve as “a lamp guiding future generations” to follow his father’s path of service, cultural pride and people’s welfare.
