New Delhi, April 24
India and the United States have concluded three days of trade discussions, agreeing to remain engaged and maintain momentum as negotiations continue towards an interim trade agreement under the broader bilateral framework, the government said on Friday.
According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry, the talks covered a wide range of issues, including market access, non-tariff measures, technical barriers to trade, customs and trade facilitation, investment promotion, economic security, and digital trade.
In a statement, the ministry said the meetings were held in a constructive and positive spirit, with forward-looking discussions that helped make progress on key issues. Both sides agreed to continue engagement to carry forward the pace of negotiations.
The discussions are part of efforts to finalize an interim trade arrangement based on a framework agreed upon earlier this year, which also reaffirms commitment to a broader India-United States Bilateral Trade Agreement.
Officials from India recently visited Washington for in-person meetings with their US counterparts to advance negotiations and work out details of the proposed agreement.
The continued engagement is expected to help both countries move closer to a mutually beneficial trade pact and strengthen economic ties.
