Dharamshala, May 23
Despite the presence of multiple cricket venues across India, Dharamshala’s picturesque HPCA Stadium continues to attract high-profile cricket events. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL management have once again prioritized the venue for major international and franchise matches.
HPCA Director Sanjay Sharma confirmed that the India versus Afghanistan match, originally scheduled for June 14 in Dharamshala, has now been shifted to June 13 following a revised schedule by the BCCI. According to Sharma, the change could be linked to the Women’s T20 World Cup fixture between India and Pakistan scheduled for June 14.
Sharma highlighted that Dharamshala has become a preferred destination for marquee cricket events due to its world-class infrastructure and scenic location. He credited former BCCI president Anurag Thakur for the construction and development of the stadium.
The HPCA Stadium is also preparing to host the first qualifier of IPL 2026 on May 26. The high-stakes encounter between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans is expected to draw massive crowds, with teams already arriving in Dharamshala ahead of the clash.
Sharma further acknowledged IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal for his efforts in bringing prestigious matches to the venue.
