Shimla, June 10
The Himachal Pradesh Congress has taken disciplinary action against former MLA Neeraj Bharti, expelling him from the party for six years over alleged indiscipline and repeated criticism of the party and state government on social media.
The decision was taken unanimously during a meeting of the Congress Disciplinary Committee held at Rajiv Bhawan in Shimla. The committee also resolved to adopt a stricter approach towards party leaders who make statements against the party or government through the media and social media platforms.
The meeting was chaired by the Disciplinary Committee Chairman and MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore and attended by Industry Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, MLA Ashish Butail, Hardeep Singh Bawa, Anuradha Rana, Congress Organization General Secretary Vinod Jinta, and Amit Nanda.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Rathore said the party would not tolerate indiscipline and warned that strict action would be taken against any leader found speaking against the party’s ideology or publicly criticizing its leadership and government.
He said party members are expected to maintain organizational discipline and follow the principles of the Congress while expressing their views.
Apart from Bharti, the disciplinary committee also expelled three other Congress leaders — Hari Singh, Labh Singh, and Akash Sharma — from the party for six years on charges of indiscipline.
The move is being seen as a strong message from the state Congress leadership aimed at enforcing discipline within the organization and curbing public dissent against the party and government.
