Gangster Golu Gohana held after Chandigarh police encounter

Chandigarh, April 22

A wanted gangster, Mukesh alias Golu Gohana, was arrested by Chandigarh Police after a brief exchange of fire near Sector 25 on Wednesday. Police said he sustained a bullet injury during retaliatory firing and was taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 for treatment. The accused, a resident of Gohana in Haryana’s Sonipat district, was wanted in several criminal cases.

According to police, the operation was carried out by a team of the Chandigarh Police Operation Cell after receiving a tip-off about his movement near the Rally Ground area. During the interception, the accused allegedly opened fire at the police team.

Police said the team responded to the firing, resulting in an injury to his leg, before he was overpowered and taken into custody.

Officials confirmed that Mukesh alias Golu Gohana has a criminal background and was wanted in multiple cases across Haryana and other regions. He is currently under medical supervision at the government hospital. He is in stable condition.

Further investigation is underway to determine his network and recent movements, while police teams are also verifying links to other pending criminal cases.

The arrest is being seen as a significant development in ongoing efforts by Chandigarh Police to curb organized crime and track down wanted offenders operating in the region.
