Fire brigade douses major blaze near Kalka Court

A fire broke out near Kalka Mandi on Thursday, destroying nine huts and reducing belongings to ashes, though no casualties were reported, officials said.

According to initial information, the incident occurred behind the court complex near Kalka Mandi, where several makeshift huts caught fire under unclear circumstances.

Upon receiving the alert, the ERV-522 team rushed to the spot. The team, led by ASI Keshpal along with SPO Raman Kumar and driver Devender Singh, immediately assessed the situation and informed the fire brigade.

Fire brigade personnel arrived shortly after and brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further in the densely packed area.

Officials said that belongings stored inside nine huts were completely destroyed in the fire. However, no injuries or deaths were reported, providing relief to residents.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities have initiated an inquiry to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
