A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly opened fire on his own family members in Amritsar, leaving one dead and two injured on Friday. The incident occurred following an ongoing property dispute within the family. The accused, Tarsem Singh, reportedly shot his first wife, son, and daughter-in-law at their residence.
According to initial information, all three were rushed to hospital, where the son succumbed to his injuries. The wife and daughter-in-law are currently undergoing treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are probing the motive behind the attack. Preliminary reports suggest the shooting was the result of a longstanding dispute over property.
The officials are yet to confirm if the retired officer has been detained.
