A six-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted by an eight-year-old student at a government school in Sector 20, Panchkula, was discharged from PGI after several days of treatment and returned home on Wednesday. Her family and committee members gathered to welcome her after her prolonged hospital stay.

The child had been admitted to PGI in a critical condition following the alleged assault at Shaheed Major Anuj Rajput Government Sanskriti Model School. Her return home has brought relief to the family after days of uncertainty over her health.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Human Rights Commission has initiated an inquiry into the incident. Commission Chairman Justice Lalit Batra and Assistant Registrar Dr Punit Arora visited the school and inspected the spot to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.

The victim’s family has accused the school administration of negligence, alleging that the girl remained unaccounted for nearly two hours before the incident came to light.

Her uncle, Faisal, raised questions over CCTV surveillance and school security arrangements. He also alleged that the student accused of assaulting the girl was the one who later led the family to the injured child.

Separately, the Haryana Education Department suspended school principal Neelu with immediate effect on Sunday under Rule 5 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016, following the incident.
