Keshav Chauhan questions action against four party leaders booked over effigy-burning protest outside Congress office
Shimla: BJP district president Keshav Chauhan has accused the Congress government of misusing its power after the police registered an FIR against four BJP leaders over an effigy-burning protest outside Rajiv Bhawan, the Congress office in Shimla.
Those booked include Himachal Pradesh BJP Mahila Morcha president Daisy Thakur, Chauhan, former BJP candidate from Shimla Sanjay Sood and Kisan Morcha president Sanjeev Deshta. The police have registered a case under six sections.
Reacting to the action, Chauhan claimed the BJP’s protest was peaceful and accused the ruling party of disregarding the law and targeting the Opposition.
He also questioned the alleged selective action, claiming that effigies had been burnt outside Raj Bhawan but the police were taking action against BJP leaders over their protest.
Chauhan accused the Congress of unconstitutional conduct and warned officials against acting under the ruling party’s directions.
The FIR has added to the political friction between the BJP and the Congress in Shimla. The allegations against the ruling party were made by Chauhan.
