Family members of Sandeep Singh, who is lodged in jail, in connection with the murder case of Sudhir Suri, visited The Akal Takht on Wednesday, to offer prayers for his good health and well-being. During the visit, the family levelled allegations against the Patiala jail administration, claiming that Sunny was being denied basic medical facilities and subjected to inhuman treatment. Sunny’s wife, Bibi Gurpreet Kaur, his brother Hardeep Singh, their children, and Balbir Singh Muchhal, a prominent leader of the Satkar Committee All India, were present on the occasion. The family offered prayers at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, seeking blessings for Sunny’s continued Chardi Kala.
Speaking to the media, Gurpreet Kaur said the family had arrived at the holy shrine to pray for Sunny’s well-being. She expressed gratitude to the Sikh community for its continued support and said the family had complete faith in guru maharaj.
Meanwhile, Hardeep Singh accused the Patiala jail administration of failing to provide Sunny with essential medical facilities. He alleged that Sunny is facing inhuman treatment inside the prison and was being deprived of timely medical examinations and necessary treatment. He further claimed that such conditions amounted to a violation of prisoners’ basic human rights.
Hardeep Singh also expressed disappointment with the ongoing legal proceedings, saying the family had little hope of receiving justice through the courts. He maintained that their faith rested in Guru Ram Das and Sri Akal Takht Sahib, adding that Sunny continued to remain strong despite the difficulties faced in prison.
Balbir Singh Muchhal extended his support to the family and also called for collective efforts towards securing the release of Bandi Singhs, who have been lodged in prisons for extended periods.
Supporters were seen carrying Sunny’s photographs inside the Sri Akal Takht Sahib complex as the family reiterated its resolve to continue the struggle with faith and determination.
