Police to question them about the illegal weapon used in the incident

The police arrested three men in connection with firing at Alif Laila Club in Sector 11 in Panchkula and secured their six-day police remand after producing them before a court, officials said.

The accused have been identified as Lakhbir Singh, alias Lucky, Gurpreet and Karanjit Singh, all residents of Ferozepur district in Punjab.

According to police, the Sector 10 police post received information on September 13 about firing at the nightclub. Police teams reached the spot after receiving the information and apprehended three accused in connection with the incident.

Panchkula DCP IPS Aditi Singh said a case had been registered at the Sector 5 police station under serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.

The three accused were subsequently produced before the court, which granted police their six-day remand, she added.

The police will question the accused during the remand period about the illegal weapon allegedly used in the incident and its source. Officials said the investigation would focus on recovering the weapon and establishing its source.

Panchkula Police Commissioner IPS Pankaj Nain said those carrying illegal weapons and opening fire at public places, thereby putting public safety at risk, would not be spared.

“The Panchkula Police has taken prompt action in this case,” Nain said, adding that all those linked to the incident and the weapon suppliers would be brought under the law.

The police said further investigation into the firing incident was underway.
