Dharamshala, May 16

A grand CWE wrestling event was organised at the Synthetic Track Ground in Dharamshala on Friday, drawing large crowds and wrestlers from several states across the country.

Senior police officer Soumya Sambashivan and renowned wrestler The Great Khali attended the programme as special guests. Wrestlers from across the country showcased thrilling matches during the event. Speaking to reporters, The Great Khali said the primary aim of CWE Wrestling was to spread awareness among youth against drug abuse and encourage them towards sports and fitness.

He said young people were increasingly falling into addiction, making awareness campaigns by society and the government extremely important. Khali added that CWE was working to motivate youth to adopt healthy lifestyles through sports and discipline. “If even two or three children are inspired by this event to stay away from drugs and focus on fitness, our mission will be successful,” Khali said.

He also expressed his vision of making Himachal Pradesh drug-free and said CWE was organising similar programmes in different states to spread the message. Khali said not every youngster needed to reach the WWE, but maintaining good health and staying away from drugs was essential for everyone. He urged youth to wake up early, participate in outdoor games like cricket and kabaddi, and avoid wasting time on mobile gaming.

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a healthy India could be achieved only if the youth adopted regular exercise and a disciplined lifestyle. Wrestlers from Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana participated in the Dharamshala event.
