Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari has recommended a detailed examination and action against Solan Sub Divisional Magistrate Poonam Bansal over allegations of misuse of official position, conflict of interest, and possible involvement in benami land transactions.

In a communication to the Solan Deputy Commissioner, the DGP stated that an examination of a complaint received on April 27 has revealed a strong prima facie case based on available documents. He noted that the material indicates alleged misconduct, violation of government instructions, and possible abuse of authority, warranting further inquiry under conduct rules and other applicable laws.

The DGP has asked the district administration to consider disciplinary and vigilance action in the matter.

According to the letter, the complaint pertains to alleged irregularities in land transactions linked to the Chester Hills housing project in Solan. It also refers to financial flows involving transfers through intermediaries and third party accounts, which allegedly indicate structured transactions linked to land deals executed during ongoing revenue proceedings.

The complaint further points to a gap between the declared and estimated market values of the properties involved and raises concerns about possible suppression of transaction value and the use of unaccounted funds. It also cites alleged violations of government rules that prohibit officials from purchasing land within their jurisdiction without prior permission.

The matter stems from a complaint received by police and subsequent examination of financial and property records, following which the DGP has recommended further administrative and vigilance action.
