A one-day training programme on the POCSO Act, cyber crime and the POSH Act was organised in Morni Hills under the guidance of the National Commission for Women. Officials from all districts of Haryana participated in the workshop.
The programme, held at a resort in Morni Hills, was conducted by the Haryana State Commission for Women. Participants included protection officers, child welfare officials, district programme officers and representatives from One Stop Centres.
Director of Women and Child Development Priyanka Soni, Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia and Member Secretary Monika Malik were present on the occasion. Participants were encouraged and awarded certificates. Legal expert Kamal, associated with the National Commission for Women, explained provisions of the POSH Act 2013 related to prevention and redressal of workplace harassment. He briefed officials on legal safeguards and complaint mechanisms.
ACP Surender Singh delivered a session on cybercrime, highlighting risks such as hacking, phishing and fraudulent banking calls. He advised participants to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal or financial information through calls, messages or emails.
Advocate Deepa Singh from the Punjab and Haryana High Court explained key aspects of the POCSO Act, including provisions related to child protection from sexual offences. She said the law ensures equal protection for both boys and girls and mandates strict action based on the nature of the offence.
She also highlighted that the victim’s age is a crucial factor in applying the law and noted that special courts are established under the Act for the speedy and sensitive handling of such cases.
